During the first day of the 2013 Bass n Tubes open I was hopping to get into a few big bass. In the early part of the day I tried getting onto a solid jig and frog bite but found myself struggling to get the first keeper. While making my way down the bank inside the keys I run into a 4+ lb male on a bed and at that moment I knew I would have to switch up my tactics to get a solid limit. After loosing that 4 pounder I make my way outside of the keys and into clear water. I run into a huge spawning flat, a public swimming zone, and pick up my first keeper a 2.5lb male. It was close to the end of the tourney buy then so I head back to weigh in. I get to the ramp with an hour left so i decide to look for some more bed fish, and about an hour later I'm weighing in three fish all caught on beds. Day one had 3 fish for about 8lbs.
Day two first thing in the morning i make my way back to that public swimming beach where I soon pic up my first keeper (female) that went about 4lbs give or take. Not 10ft from that bed I pick up a second fish that goes about 3lbs. I then make my way around a point and get onto my third bed fish, bedding by a dock, 2.5lbs. While Making my way down the bank I end up catching three more fish that are around 3lbs, culling out my third fish(2.5lbs) putting me at 5 fish for about 18lbs at weigh in.

Me and a friend, Christian Burns, made our way out to Shasta for a few days to try out his new boat, a 1983 ProCraft w/ a 150hp 2 stroke Mercury. Little did we know we were about to get onto one of the best top water bites of our life's.
We don't get to Shasta tell about 1pm and after launching the boat we start fishing around 2pm. We started of fishing a private dock that holds some of the biggest spotted bass on the lake. Catching only a few on drop shot we make our way to some of our favorite points and flats where we catch some on jigs. It wasn't tell around 6 O'clock when we get onto a solid top-water bite, fishing points and shaded shorelines. We continue to catch countless fish tell dark when we make our way back to the hose boat to end the day with about 30+ fish total. The second day we reach our spot that we scouted out the night before and its about 5:30 and right away we get on some fish and it just gets better from there. We knew we were gonna catch a lot of fish and in the end we caught somewhere around 90-100 total bass. Including Spotted Bass, Smallmouth, and Largemouth.
